R.I.P. Larry Norman. The first songs I ever learned on guitar were Larry’s, and I have to credit him largely for my sincere interest in music. I have lots of Larry Norman memories… I saw him a bunch of times. I met him a couple times. My dad spilled a coke all over him once. My wife’s family housed Larry’s bro, Charlie, for weeks at a time. My high school band used to cover one of his songs. At any rate, as much as I’ve eventually come to disagree with this dude on spiritual matters, I still owe him quite a bit of respect and gratitude. Peace, Larry.
Here is a vid of Larry performing the song most personal to me. This is the first song I ever learned to play on guitar and subsequently performed in front of an audience. (so embarrassing).
Diary of the Dead!

03, drummer of Kissinger
Thumbs Up: Kissinger’s fantastic new video for “Sydney Stone.” Yeah, the video is great, but it is really that memorable guitar riff that makes the hair stand up on my chest. Go watch, now! (below) I saw Kissinger at Emo’s Lounge this past Saturday night…it was a solid set of rock and roll, I tells ye!
Extra Thumbs Up: George Romero’s Diary of the Dead is coming soon. I love zombie movies and George Romero is a no-brainer. Expect to see me opening night for this one at the Drafthouse.
very excited about this..Religulous

Emo’s is one of the best reasons to live in Austin, the best city in the United States of America

Frank Hendrix, Mr. Emo’s himself
Thumbs Up: I went to the magnificent Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar last night to see Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood. I enjoyed it, but, it wasn’t the full-on cinematic experience I was expecting from the hype. Like the Academy members, I preferred the Coen brothers slam dunk of No Country For Old Men.
Double Thumbs Up: I should get an Emo’s tattoo. Best venue ever.
Dog’s Best Friend!
February 18, 2008

Peeve
Thumbs Up: My old bitch, Peeve. She’s 11 year’s old and still obsessed with balls. This dog has been an incredible companion, confidant and playmate. Once, back in our home state of Indiana she jumped out of my arms and landed on her head, as a puppy. Since then she’s been crazy about swimming, chasing balls and eating anything not attached to the floor. She also likes to take walks and crap on pavement and blacktop. That’s my dog.
Showtime! Three Thieves’ 2006 Cabernet!!!
February 17, 2008

Rebel Wine’s The Show cabernet
Thumbs Up: Not only does this wine have incredible Hatch Show Print inspired packaging, it is also an amazingly delicious value. I trust y’all are as intrigued about Three Thieves delicious new offering as I am… This big red has blasting cherry fruit flavor that is hearty and fruity without being too sweet with the jam quotient. Yum a long ding dang.
The Brothers Solomon!
February 14, 2008

Super Bendy Finger!
Thumbs Up: For today, I’m going to have to give some props to The Brothers Solomon. I wasn’t expecting much out of this flick, but I ended up laughing quite a bit throughout. Will Arnet kills me. His physical comedy is on par with Steve Martin in his heyday. Will Forte is also quite good here, and it should be noted that he wrote this sucker. I have to agree with a comment someone left at IMDB – “It’s Dumb and Dumber, except they want to have a baby.” Pretty apt description. Pretty apt. Enjoy the trailer below…
